Gundam Evolution Breakout Series 2022 Announcement

10/21/22

Welcome to the Gundam Evolution Breakout Series!

In this video, Ai SAKI will give you a breakdown of what The Breakout series is, and it's importance in regards to the upcoming Gundam Evolution Newtype League and Gundam Evolution Academy League.

Welcome to the Gundam Evolution Breakout Series. This video will explain the format for competitive Gundam Evolution across the North American and European regions and how you can become a participant in the scene.

Teams will participate in the Breakout Series for a chance to compete in the Gundam Evolution Newtype and Academy Leagues. The Breakout Series will include two regions, North America and Europe. Over four months, teams will fight to gain points based on placement in each event. At the end of the series, based on the rankings, the top 8 international teams will automatically qualify for the Gundam Evolution Newtype League. The following 4 will automatically qualify for the Gundam Evolution Academy League.

Over the next four months, teams will compete in 6 total events to gather points to qualify them for the Newtype or Academy Leagues. Each event will host a two-day double-elimination bracket where the top 8 teams will gain points toward their qualification into the international leagues.

For the Breakout series, we will be implementing a map ban system. Teams will pick and ban maps based on the pool voted on by the community. The maps that will be in rotation for the Breakout Series are:

- Underground Command Center

- Harbor City

- Mountain R&D Lab

- Thermal Plant

- Quarry

- Flak Fort

- Ministry of Defense

Additionally, we listened to feedback from the community and we will be putting Zaku II Melee into a competitive quarantine. This means that throughout the Breakout Series, Zaku II Melee will not be allowed to be picked within competitive play.

Next, let’s talk about your path into the Newtype League. Following the Breakout Series, two open qualifiers will be hosted for a chance for pilots to participate in the Academy League. Teams will participate in a double-elimination style bracket, with the top 8 teams qualifying for the closed qualifiers. The top two teams at the end of each closed qualifier will be invited to participate in the Academy League. The Academy League will feature 8 rising teams competing to hone their skills and play for a chance to promote to the Newtype League.

The Breakout Series is the beginning of an ecosystem where competitors across North America and Europe can compete to prove they are the best of the best. We look forward to seeing you compete pilot. It’s time to earn your stripes!
